Donald Trump makes it ‘very clear’ he’s not finished yet

    Sky News Australia – Feb 14, 2021

Donald Trump has made his intentions “very clear” following his acquittal in the “monumental waste of time” impeachment trial, according to Sky News host Rita Panahi.

Former President Trump was acquitted in the impeachment trial on Saturday (local time) as the Senate could not come up with the required two-thirds majority to convict him.

Seven Republicans broke ranks to vote to convict the president taking the vote to 57-43, but the Democrats needed 17 GOP Senators to vote with them to achieve what would be a landmark victory.

Mr Trump released a statement following the news in which he thanked those in Congress who “stood proudly for the constitution,” while hitting out at Democrats.

“It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters, and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance,” the former president said.

“I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honourably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate”.

Ms Panahi said the whole impeachment trial was a “bloody sham” from the beginning, and added that the former president’s statement makes it “very clear he’s not finished yet”.

“Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun,” Mr Trump said.

“In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people.”
