Christensen also appeared on Sky News Australia to make his case. He told the network that Assange&nbsp;<em>\u201chas been a target of the Democrats,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;noting that his persecution started under the administration of former president Barack Obama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI mean Hillary Clinton hates his guts, obviously, for exposing who the real Hillary was, and you\u2019ve had a war on Assange by the Democrats and the deep state,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;he claimed, pointing out that projected president-elect Joe Biden has called Assange a criminal and a&nbsp;<em>\u201chi-tech terrorist.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MP argued that a pardon is\u00a0<em>\u201cone way that Donald Trump can stand up for free speech,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0and against the Democratic establishment, and would also allow him to\u00a0<em>\u201cpoke the deep state in the eye.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"nv-iframe-embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"MP heads campaign to have Julian Assange pardoned by Donald Trump\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/W3SS5XjPN5w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At the center of the United States\u2019&nbsp;<em>\u201cgreat document of democracy that is the United States Constitution\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;is free speech and freedom of the press, Christensen declared, before concluding,&nbsp;<em>\u201cSo I\u2019m hoping that he will pardon Julian Assange.
