This was supposed to be ‘judgement day’ for the Andrews government

    Sky News Australia – Dec 21, 2020

Sky News host Chris Smith says the final report into Victoria’s bungled hotel quarantine program has been a “monumental waste of time and money”.

On Monday the final report into Victoria’s hotel quarantine program was handed down but it did not identify the individual responsible for making the crucial decision to employ private security guards.

Retired judge Jennifer Coate determined the hiring process of security guards was inappropriate, nor was it sufficiently rigorous.

She also found the decision was made without proper analysis or formal articulation that it was in fact happening.

“This was supposed to be judgment day for the Andrews government, over its appalling mismanagement of hotel quarantine,” Mr Smith said.

    “The findings are a farce”.

Discussing the issue, Sky News host Peta Credlin said Premier Daniel Andrews offered up a “cheap apology” today in the fallout of the report.

“People have waited months and months and months to hear government take responsibility,” Ms Credlin said.
