Australia could be Part of Moderna Vaccine Trial for Children

    Australia could take part in a trial to see whether the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is effective in children.

    The trials have begun in the United States and while there is no clear timeline on when they could begin here.

    However, the US drug company is considering using Australia and Canada as part of the trial to see the effectiveness of the vaccine in children as young as six months old.

    Australia has purchased 25 million Moderna doses with the first million due to arrive in September, to be followed by 3 million a month from October.

    The Therapeutic Goods Administration is expected to give the jab the formal tick of approval in the next few weeks.
