At Least Six Killed by Devastating Earthquake in Croatia

    Sky News Australia – Dec 30, 2020

The Croatian town of Petrinja has suffered the dual impact of two earthquakes in brief succession on Monday and Tuesday, with the latter causing major damage to homes and buildings and taking the lives of at least six residents.

Petrinja mayor Darinko Dumbovic was giving a press conference on Tuesday about the previous day’s earthquake when the major quake struck.

Mr Dumbovic has since reported half the town was destroyed by the devastating hit.

Officials have confirmed at least six people have died, however the total number of casualties remains unclear as there is yet rubble to sort through.

Residents are fearing the onslaught of yet another earthquake.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported Tuesday’s quake was of a magnitude of 6.4.
