Andrews grilled again over phone records linked to private security use in hotel quarantine

    Sky News Australia – Oct 10, 2020

Premier Daniel Andrews has faced another day of grilling during his daily coronavirus briefing as journalists continued to press him about the state’s failed hotel quarantine scheme.

Sky News Host Peta Credlin yesterday probed Premier Daniel Andrews on why key phone records which could prove who decided to use private security were not tendered to the hotel quarantine inquiry.

Mr Andrews said he was willing to provide phone records to the board of inquiry if they requested it but said he would not volunteer those records because he was not in charge of the running the inquiry.

“I’m not going to be interfering in the work of that inquiry. If they seek any information, that information or any information, then they only need to make a request,” he said.

“You don’t set up a process and then run your own process.

“I think it’s unfair and inaccurate to describe this as anything than a full-ranging inquiry.”

The Premier hit back at Sky News Melbourne Senior Reporter Andrea Crothers’ question as to why he didn’t simply make the phone records available to the inquiry, claiming neither he nor Sky News ran the inquiry.
